A little look at Pin-Up Connections

After some headaches of working out our roof for the interior atrium space (which shouldn't be quite this tall by any means), we have come to conclusions of how we are going to be ABLE to support our roof. Though it won't look exactly like this image, our main structure will consist of members much like this, which is labelled a PinUp Connection. Look in Building Construction for a little bit of technical advice here. We found this element to be both structural and biological in nature, which drew us away from gothic revivalism in creating a huge elaborate truss system to something a little more modern. Our column will branch off somewhere near the 4th floor, unlike this image.

Beginning of the branch idea for our central space, taking into consideration loadings and aesthetics
What came out of listening to other groups present. Also, looking at possible water collection systems and the relation of water pressure and volume with regards to natural irrigation in the green house.
More into the central space's structure.
Just some sketches on possible foundation connections.
How our central columns MAY be held up: Pin Up Connections. Look to the massive purple book for inspiration on this.
 Wall section details.
More wall section details, in particular, how the main wall meets the glazing. Also, encasing vertical elements in aluminum snap-on mullions.

Revit Work, such as of this.

Hello All! Leah and I have been working fairly diligently to produce a holistic design in Revit, and it's not easy. This is our work we had as of this last Tuesday, and we have made major changes since. So I just thought I'd include a few screenshots from Revit of our progress. Please Comment if you have ideas!!

More Sketchbook pages.

A quick idea of promoting growth in the middle of a building design.
Simple idea of connections of space, enabling views, and utilizing appeal of green roofs.
Using panels of glass (semi transparent panels) for both a physical barrier of space, while offering also a viewing gallery of images. Tensioned by cables?

Progress in form at Last

Things are looking good for our studio project so far! A huge breakthrough followed by a pause, then another huge breakthrough! Love it. Sure hope the other classes make me this excited when the major projects start up.
